Formal Urban Garden
Hertfordshire

Connections

A low maintenance high impact garden for a family with grown up children. The space was designed to visually and physically connect the newly renovated and extended home to the garden room at the far end of the garden.

For structure and definition we used Euonymus for low edging to frame the limestone paths. The formal lawn provides a central space for the eye and the body to rest and enjoy the lines of the garden.

Standard Holly trees border the space and give year round interest and, along with the stunning wooden fence, offer privacy and sanctuary in the urban setting. Lower level planting was comprised of evergreen spheres, interplanted with spring bulbs bringing seasonal colour change. All the plants were chosen for their nectar, berries and seeds to bring wildlife into the urban environment.
