Royal Roots & New Horizons

For a former Royal residence turned multi-purpose events venue, this garden design takes the classical framework of a parterre, but meets contemporary expectations and practical requirements by shaking the rules of the past and embracing contemporary design.

The garden is a metaphor for RBG Kew - built on Royal roots, but evolving and adapting its role to embrace modern science and society, looking to the future and staying relevant.

The garden is split into three main areas:

• Traditional Parterre: the formal entrance and welcome area.

• Evolutionary Parterre: leading you through the garden on your journey.

• Contemporary Parterre: the destination / resting place / meeting place.
